While every experience is of course unique, some people find that hearing the stories of others can help them feel more mentally prepared, especially in terms of what they might see and the physical/emotional toll.
Be warned, candid really means candid, and in some cases there are no details spared – this isn’t for gratuitous or shocking purposes but to give you an idea of what you might expect, from the physical aspects to the emotional impact. The wide range of stories and recollections also demonstrate that everyone is different and no way is the ‘right’ way in this situation, just whatever works for you.
